FAQs

Why should I get tint?

Window tinting offers multiple benefits including enhanced privacy, reduced glare, and protection against harmful UV rays. It also helps regulate interior temperatures, protects your vehicle or home from fading, and can improve energy efficiency.

Are there different tint levels?

Yes, tint films come in a variety of shades and performance ratings. Options vary based on darkness, reflectivity, and heat rejection, so you can choose the level that best suits your style and functional needs.

What types of tint films do you use?

We use only premium, high-performance tint films that provide excellent UV protection, durability, and heat rejection, ensuring both aesthetic appeal and functional benefits.

What is the legal limit for tint in NC?

In North Carolina, the front side windows must allow at least 35% of visible light to pass through. The rear side and back windows can have darker tints. Always check local regulations or consult with us if you're unsure about compliance.

Do you offer mobile tinting?

Absolutely. Yellow Jacket Tinting provides mobile tinting services, bringing our expert installation right to your location for your convenience.

Can tinting be done outside?

Tinting can be performed outdoors; however, we recommend a controlled, shaded environment—like a garage—for optimal results. This helps ensure a cleaner installation and superior film adhesion.

What do I need to know about aftercare?

After your tint is applied, it’s important to let the film cure undisturbed. Typically, this means avoiding rolling down windows or cleaning the surface with harsh chemicals for 48-72 hours. We provide detailed aftercare instructions to help maximize the longevity of your tint.

How long does it take for the window film to cure?

After installation, the film begins its curing process immediately, but full curing can take anywhere from 3 to 7 days. During this time, you may notice some bubbling, streaking, or hazing on your windows—this is just water still trapped between the film and the glass and is completely normal. Larger bubbles, in particular, may take 7 to 14 days to evaporate, depending on sun exposure and the outside temperature. For a speedier cure, we recommend parking your vehicle in direct sunlight, as the increased heat will help expedite the evaporation process.

How long does tinting last?

With proper care and maintenance, high-quality tinting can last for many years. In many cases, customers enjoy the benefits of their tint for 10 to 15 years, with some installations lasting even longer.

Can I remove tint?

Yes, tint can be removed if necessary. Our team can assist with professional tint removal to ensure it’s done safely without damaging your windows.

What warranty do you offer?

We stand behind our work with a lifetime warranty on all our products, protecting against issues such as bubbling, fading, peeling, and more. However, please note that our warranty does not cover damage resulting from improper aftercare. For example, rolling down your windows or cleaning them during the curing period—which can cause the film to peel—is not covered under our warranty. Additionally, normal wear and tear, scratching, or any damage caused by the owner is also not covered. Following our aftercare instructions is essential to ensure the longevity and performance of your tint.
